Early access · v0.1

A video editor with a real compositor built in.

Editt pairs a multi-track timeline with a node-based compositing graph, GPU-accelerated preview, and local-first project sync — in one lightweight desktop app for Windows.

Features

Everything from first cut to final composite

A native desktop app built around two things most editors bolt on as an afterthought: a real timeline, and a real node graph.

Multi-Track Timeline

Arrange clips across unlimited video and audio tracks with frame-accurate trimming, keyframing, and drag-and-drop straight from your media library.

Node-Based Compositing

Build your look visually: wire up color, transform, and composite nodes on a graph, multi-select to edit several at once, and fine-tune every parameter in the inspector.

GPU-Accelerated Preview

Scrub and play back in real time on a GPU-driven render pipeline, with on-canvas transform gizmos for direct, precise manipulation.

FFmpeg-Powered Media Engine

Import a wide range of video and audio formats. Editt generates thumbnails and range previews on import, so your library is ready to cut with instantly.

Local-First Project Sync

Projects live on your machine first and sync in the background over a CRDT engine (Yjs) — so you keep editing, online or off.

Cross-Platform Native App

Built on Tauri and Rust for a small, fast-starting app, with automatic updates and editt:// deep links — not a browser tab pretending to be one.

Accounts & Shared Access

Sign in with Google, GitHub, Microsoft, or Apple to sync projects across your machines and share project access with collaborators.

The compositing graph

Not just filters stacked on a clip

Most editors give you a linear stack of effects. Editt gives you a graph. Every clip can feed into a network of color, transform, and composite nodes that you wire up yourself — so complex looks stay readable instead of turning into a stack of a dozen blend modes.

Select multiple nodes at once to move, copy, or restyle them together, and dial in exact values in the inspector panel next to the graph. It's the same idea compositing tools like Fusion popularized — built directly into Editt's timeline instead of living in a separate app.

  • Multi-select nodes to edit, move, or duplicate several at once
  • Live inspector for exact numeric control over every node parameter
  • Composite multiple clips and generators in a single graph
  • Node graphs stay attached to the clip, right on your timeline
Roadmap

What's next (maybe)

Directions we're actively considering for Editt beyond the current early-access build.

Editt is at v0.1 — early access. Everything below is a direction we're exploring, not a promise. Scope, order, and timing can all change.

Exploring

Real-Time Collaboration

Multiple editors on the same timeline at once, with live cursors and presence — building on the CRDT sync layer that already powers project sync.

Exploring

macOS & Linux Builds

The same native app, everywhere. Windows ships first; macOS and Linux are next on the list.

Exploring

AI-Assisted Cutting

Scene detection, silence removal, and auto-generated captions to speed up the first pass of an edit.

Exploring

Effect & Template Marketplace

Share and install node graphs as reusable effects and starting templates.

Exploring

Cloud Rendering

Kick off an export without tying up your own machine.

Exploring

Mobile Companion

Review cuts and leave feedback from your phone while the edit lives on your desktop.
